Coming back as a Canadian

Coming back as a Canadian

Patrick Hoffman |

I have been thinking about Canadians a lot lately due to the passing of Canada's hockey voice, Bob Cole.

I am not a Canadian, but I know that he meant a lot to not only to the game, but to the nation as a whole. Bob was a true Canadian through and through.

Here is a poem on why I would love to come back as a Canadian when I pass on:

I have said it before and I will say it again,
when I die, I'm coming back a Canadian.

I obviously don't want to die yet,
but when I do, I'll be a Canadian I bet.

You see, Canada is somewhere I belong.
Heck, it's something I've felt all along.

In my eyes, they have the greatest thing to ever exist.
In fact, it is something I've never been able to resist.

If you know me, then you know it's a certain game I love.
It is a game that comes from above.

Canada is hockey through and through and it's easy to see.
North of the border is where I want to be.

Like every Canadian, I live and breathe this game 24/7.
Canada is hockey heaven.

Please forgive me if I am being so dark and bleak.
But when all is said and done in my life hockey and Canada is something I will seek.

With the game's best players and personalities all coming from north of the border.
It's where I want to be and when I die, that will be my order.

So, when it's my time to pass on,
I know that I want to go to a place where the game is always on.

Canada, you really mean a lot to me
When all is said I done in my life, this I know you will see.
